Smoothie bowls are one of my favorite dinners after a workout. They can be a blast to eat, they’re filling and it’s like soup in summer.. Except cold on a hot day. I don’t really need to preach about smoothie bowls, but I do.
That said, it can be tricky to make a picturesque bowl that’s just as good looking as it is tasty.
The bowl is just as important as the other ingredients. Too big of a bowl and you end up with a puddle. Too small a bowl and you have to pour more and that’s extra work, an uncomfortable bowl to hold is just frustrating.
So choose a bowl that’s right for you, I personally prefer low and wide bowls with a flat bottom.
Firstly, chilled bowls, placing a bowl in the fridge or freezer (make sure its freezer safe) 30 minutes before. This keeps your smoothie cold as you eat it.
Fruit bowls are the other option, hollow out a pineapple and use it as a bowl, be sure to clip the spikes before serving.
You’re going to be adding toppings, and the last thing you want is an overflowing bowl that spills from the sides and makes a mess. Keep about a 10-15% buffer between the top of the bowl and the smoothie.
The key to a good smoothie bowl is a thick and smooth consistency, a weak blender is more likely to produce a runny bowl that’ll likely end up in the sink.
once you’ve made your blend and placed it in the bowl. Add complimentary toppings to your smoothie bowl, don’t just use one texture or topping, mix fruits, nuts, and seeds to create a variance of textures in each bite.
