The story behind it

Cherry coke, chocolate cherries.. Cherry flavored anything. I love the flavor of cherries when they’re mixed with other things. Oddly I don’t like them so much on their own. Unfortunately these cherry flavored consumables are mostly super-unhealthy.

When you’re going to the gym daily, it can make you feel pretty bad when your workout gains are making up for a can of soda you took all of 2 minutes to drink.

So, I decided to try and make a smoothie that captures the part of the flavor that I care for the most. Surprisingly chocolate and cherry with a few extras did the trick.

After figuring that out, I knew I had to share it!

Ingredients

2 cups frozen cherries (sweet or tart)
1 ripe banana
1 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk (can sub any milk you like)
1-2 cups spinach
2-3 Tbsp cacao or unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp vanilla extract
2-3 drops almond extract
2 scoops collagen protein
optional: 2-3 tsp pure maple syrup (as desired)

Nutrition facts

Why is it so good for you

The main component here in flavor and nutritionally, is a large helping of cherries. Cherries are amazing for helping in exercise recovery. If you have a physically demanding job or workout, drinking this afterwards will help heal your muscles.

Then there’s a mix of fruits and greens that boost this smoothie from reasonably healthy, to a secret green shake that’ll get you feeling as vigorous as a olympian!

It’s a bit of a bucket list of ingredients, but toss them together and give it a try. You won’t know how you lived without this!

Preparation

place everything in the blender, blend till smooth.
