The story behind it

What would you do if I told you that, you can have a chocolate chip smoothie that’s not only good for you, but is vegan and gluten free too? You’d probably think I’m lying, but this here is science! Nutritional science!

This green smoothie is fully equipped to satiate your muscles, and your tastebuds. If you’re a gym-freak like me, you can get pretty bored of your daily protein shake and the lack of vitamins it provides.

It was with that motivation and some furious blending, that I sought to make a smoothie that would just do everything!

It needed to be sweet & healthy, have a great texture, and be filled with protein & antioxidants. It also needed to be low in calories, fats & carbs.

Which is what brings us to this wonderful shake, you can read the ingredients below. But the result for your tastebuds is just phenomenal.
Between the bites of chocolate chip, the smooth texture from the coconut milk and the zing at the end from the herbs and peppermint. It doesn’t get better than this.

Ingredients

1/2 cup coconut milk full fat, canned
1/2 cup plain yogurt or plain greek yogurt
2 bananas chopped and frozen
4 cups spinach
6 ice cubes
1 full TBSP natural whey protein

1 teaspoon peppermint extract not peppermint oil – if using oil, start with much less
2 tablespoons 85% dark chocolate chopped, or sub dark chocolate chips
1/4-1/2 cup water optional, if needed

Garnish with more chocolate chips

Why is it so good for you

What’s more, this shake is excellent for bulking up. Containing a very high concentration of protein, from spinach, yogurt & whey!

Additionally, the spinach, peppermint, and chocolate all work to boost your mood while also having antioxidants that’ll give your skin a great glow.

That means a complete refresher either before or after your workout. With a drink like this I always prefer it before my workouts when I’m free in the evenings, but always after when I have a busy night.
