The story behind it

One of the greatest benefits of becoming a parent, has definitely been having the excuse to make copious amounts of peanut butter jelly sandwiches. It wasn’t until I started making them for my kids that I remembered how much I absolutely love these sandwiches.
There’s something so simple and carefree about them, the mix of saltiness with jammy sweetness is just awesome. As in, it inspires awe within me.

Of Course as a smoothie aficionado, I had the utmost duty smoothie-fy this nutty part of Americana. It also happened to be the perfect way to get my kids in on smoothies and get them hooked.

Nowadays mornings begin with tossing peanut butter into the blender, rather than on carb filled breads.

Ingredients

1 banana
1 cup milk milk of choice
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 heaping tablespoon all-natural peanut butter
1 heaping tablespoon 100% natural fruit preserves

Why is it so good for you

Naturally, I don’t want anyone eating junk.

This smoothie is no different, bananas are rich in potassium, milk in calcium. That’s good for your bones, blood sugars and body fluids.

PB is full of healthy fats the body needs to function properly, and lowers the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Lastly, fruit preserves; while high in sugars carry with them strong antioxidants that prevent you from being susceptible to a whole host in infections.

So toss out the bread and toss the rest in to your blender to make a modern version of a classic breakfast. One that has all of the benefits, without the simple carbs in the morning.

Preparation

Place everything (except the fruit preserves) in the blender, blend till smooth.
Pour half a glass of the smoothie, add the fruit preserves by smearing it across the inside of the glass, pour the rest, add more preserve on top (optional).
